In 2011 the North Village Arts District Farmers and Artisans Market was created to be Columbia’s destination for farm fresh produce, plants, unique arts, entertainment, jewelry, informational workshops for adults and activities for children.
Though today the market is a separate organization known as The Orr Street Farm & Art Market (OrrFam), the North Village Arts district remains a close partner and our purpose is the same as it was under their creation.
OrrFam is a nonprofit organization operated by community volunteers - individuals that donate their time, skills and talents to run the market and continue its mission to enrich the community by fostering meaningful relationships between local farmers, artisans and its members.
From its inception, the market has been held at the historic Wabash Station, the first railroad depot in Columbia. Complete with an incredible backdrop of original art, the site is a central location within the district, surrounded by small local businesses including art galleries and a music studio.
Every Spring the market welcomes participants, volunteers and visitors to come see all the amazing things the locals have to offer.
Come discover what great things grow here.
ABOUT THE MARKET OPERATION
The board of directors is made up of volunteers elected by the community. Their duties are to help with preparations for the market each season, securing the meeting space, planning events, recruiting and onboarding members, advertising the market, help with set-up on market days and ensure participants are aware of the market policies.
